Forbes: 7 Media Trends That Will Redefine Entertainment In 2026

Written by:

Entertainment in 2026 has entered a new phase and Forbes suggests the shift will be hard to miss. AI is moving into the creative process in a much bigger way, audiences are leaning toward more interactive and immersive experiences.

This is a year technology and viewing habits will meet in the middle, reshaping what we watch and how viewers connect with it.

1. AI Video Takes Over

Forbes has highlighted that generative video is not only a tech demo anymore, it is becoming a real part of film and TV production. It can now create backgrounds, scenes and full sequences that once needed huge teams. Shows like El Eternauta are key examples of how quickly this is moving. There is still plenty of debate about what this means for creativity and jobs, but the technology is already changing how visual content is made.

2. The Rise of Digital Celebrities

AI‑created influencers are now stepping into the spotlight. These virtual figures aren’t just cartoonish avatars, they are created with their own voices, looks and storylines. Actors are worried about what this means for their careers, while studios see digital talent as flexible and cost‑effective. The real test will be whether audiences connect with them or find them too artificial.

3. Sports You Can Practically Step Into

Sports viewing is becoming far more immersive. VR seats, 3D replays and player‑perspective views are giving fans a chance to experience games in new ways. With advanced cameras and real‑time tech, it is possible to revisit plays from any angle. Broadcasters are already exploring how to turn these new experiences into fresh business opportunities.

4. Worlds Built on Words

Game worlds are about to become much easier to create. Instead of building every detail by hand, developers and eventually players will be able to generate entire environments with simple prompts. AI‑powered characters will also feel more natural, reacting with personality instead of following scripts. It’s a shift that blurs the line between playing a game and helping create it.

5. Editing and Delivering Stories

With so much content competing for attention, studios are rethinking how they deliver stories. Episodes may adjust to fit the time you have, recaps will be generated instantly and shorter highlight versions will become more common. It is designed to keep viewers engaged without overwhelming them.

6. Protecting Creativity in the Age of AI

As AI learns from human‑made work, creators are pushing for better ways to protect their ideas. New tools such as like digital watermarks and blockchain‑based tracking are emerging to help artists prove ownership and get credit. This year is likely to bring a big push toward clearer rules and stronger protections on content.

7. Stories Built for the Smallest Screen

Since most streaming now happens on phones, content is being shaped with mobile viewing in mind. Vertical videos, quick episodes and fast‑paced storytelling are becoming more common. The goal is to match the way people actually watch on the go, in short bursts and often on a small screen.

Forbes makes it clear that the entertainment world is heading into a major transition and their research shows just how quickly these changes are taking shape. AI is becoming a real creative force; new digital personalities are entering the spotlight and the ways we watch and interact with content are expanding in every direction. At the same time, creators and audiences are trying to hold onto the human side of storytelling as technology moves forward. With all of this happening at once, 2026 is set to be a year where the industry experiments boldly.
