Identify and drive new commercial opportunities across a global portfolio of much-loved toys, games and brands, building partnerships, opening new markets and finding innovative ways to extend IP into new categories, experiences and revenue streams.
THE COMPANY
Our client is a global, privately owned toys and games business with an international presence spanning multiple markets worldwide. With a strong portfolio of much-loved brands and intellectual property, the company has built a successful international business around creating products that bring people together and deliver fun to households around the world.
Alongside its established toys and games portfolio, the business is increasingly looking at new ways to develop and extend its brands, exploring opportunities across consumer products, retail, digital, entertainment, experiential and other complementary categories.
With an entrepreneurial culture and an ambitious approach to international growth, this is an opportunity to join a global business where there is genuine scope to shape how its brands and IP evolve beyond their traditional categories.
THE ROLE
The Senior Commercial Licensing & Partnerships Manager will play a key role in identifying and developing new commercial opportunities across the company’s portfolio of brands and intellectual property.
This is a broad, entrepreneurial role focused on looking beyond the core toys and games business to identify new ways to build brands, reach consumers and generate additional revenue streams.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities across the company’s brands and intellectual property, with a focus on creating incremental revenue streams beyond the core toys and games business.
- Explore new categories, channels, markets and consumer experiences where the company’s brands and IP could have commercial potential.
- Proactively identify and approach potential partners, licensees, agents, retailers, brands and other organisations that could help develop and extend the company’s IP.
- Develop creative partnership concepts and assess their commercial and strategic potential.
- Build clear commercial proposals and business cases for new opportunities, demonstrating the potential value to both the business and its partners.
- Take opportunities from initial idea and relationship-building through to negotiation, deal structuring and execution.
- Monitor market developments, consumer trends and emerging opportunities to identify new routes to market and potential areas for growth.
- Represent the company at relevant industry events, trade shows and licensing shows to build relationships, identify opportunities and stay close to market developments.
- Help shape the wider strategy for extending and commercialising the company’s brands and IP internationally.
THE PERSON
You will identify potential partners and take opportunities from initial concept through to negotiation and execution, exploring new and unexpected ways to extend brands and IP across consumer products, retail, digital, technology, entertainment, experiential and beyond. An out-of-the-box creative thinker, you will be curious about what is possible and able to turn unconventional ideas into commercially compelling opportunities.
You will be an experienced commercial, licensing, partnerships or business development professional with a strong track record of identifying and closing revenue-generating opportunities. You will have experience taking brands, IP or products into new territories, categories or channels, alongside a strong network across relevant industries and the confidence to open doors and build senior relationships. International experience, particularly across the US, would be highly advantageous.
Entrepreneurial, proactive and commercially driven, you will thrive in a hands-on environment where you can take ownership and make things happen. You will combine creative thinking with strong commercial judgement, negotiation and influencing skills, and be confident representing the business externally and engaging senior stakeholders. Willingness to travel internationally when required is essential.
